Oceana scientists and marine investigators partake in at-sea expeditions to document Baltic Sea habitats, species and fisheries. Divers and underwater robots (ROVs) help us study the impact of fisheries and gather evidence to support the protection of areas of ecological interest. Oceana then publishes reports and GIS maps that include all relevant findings. Our aim is to influence the EU and Baltic Sea governments, to make sure they enforce the existing regulation on fisheries, adopt new policies where needed and increase the quality and quantity of marine protected areas.

Oceana is grateful to Arcadia, Robertson Foundation, VELUX Foundations and Zennström Philantropies for generously supporting the Baltic Expeditions.
